About
- The MLML network is built around a Cisco switched gigabit network core with a 10 Gb connection to the CENIC managed CalREN high-bandwidth high-availability Internet network. Gigabit and 100 Mb connections are available to the desktop using fiber or copper connections. A combination of fiber cable and wireless bridges connect remote buildings to the campus network. The MLML network infrastructure supports data, voice and video.
- Wireless network access is available to the desktop or laptop throughout most of the Main Lab with 802.11b/g connections. View the drawing of wireless coverage in the main building.
- During Fall 2009 the wireless network will be expanded to provide wireless connectivity throughout MLML with 802.11b/g/n connections using Aruba managed wireless infrastructure.
Policies
- Planned outages will be communicated in advance via email and voicemail and will be scheduled to minimize disruptions to the MLML community.
- Other network outages are treated as "code blue" and given top priority. When local resources are inadequate the SJSU Network Operations Center and its advanced network monitoring tools are available for more indepth troubleshooting.
- Network security works best when all members of the community are active participants. Using Cisco Clean Access as the initial point of network contact ensures that all devices are updated and free of harmful malware.
